Your front door is one of the first things people notice. A new Waudena door from Energy Pro Windows & Siding lifts curb appeal while adding security, energy efficiency, and long-term performance.
We install Waudena® exterior doors across the Kansas City metro, in steel and fiberglass, with hundreds of combinations of style, glass, color, and hardware.
You can explore everything before you commit. Waudena’s Design Guide walks you through six steps, and the CAMEO-360 visualizer lets you see combinations on screen.
What you get to choose:
Start with the style of your home, then build an entryway that is uniquely yours.
I had a great experience with Energy Pro for the installation of my doors and windows. The complete the installation in a timely manner without compromising quality. I’m especially impressed with the warranty they offer. It’s clear the stand behind their work.
A replacement front door has to do more than look good. It is the largest moving part in your home’s exterior, and it has to seal against a Kansas City July and a Kansas City January without warping, sticking, or letting your conditioned air escape.
Waudena builds entrances as complete systems rather than bare slabs, so the core, the edge, the sill, and the hinges are engineered to work together. Here is what that gets you.
Every steel and fiberglass Waudena door has a polyurethane foam core that fills every void in the slab. Waudena rates it at roughly five times more efficient than a wood door. Many configurations may qualify for ENERGY STAR depending on the complete system selected, so we confirm the rating on your door, glass, and frame before you order. If the draft is really coming from the surrounding windows, we will say so.
Waudena’s full steel-edge perimeter carries a Grade 40 rating, the highest available in the industry’s toughest forced entry test. To reach it, a door has to withstand force beyond seven strikes from a 100-pound test weight. Multi-point locking is available as an upgrade on selected configurations.
Freeze and thaw cycles, humid summers, and settling foundations all pull a door out of alignment, and once the weatherstrip seal breaks, you feel the draft. Waudena addresses that two ways:
Love a stained wood door but not the sanding and refinishing? Norwood textured steel and Timbergrain fiberglass carry realistic grain in 11 woodgrain finishes. Timbergrain is molded in five species: Oak, Cherry, Fir, Mahogany, and Knotty Alder.
Steel gives you the strongest security rating and the widest painted color range at the friendliest price point.
| Collection | Steel Gauge | Best Suited For | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cambridge Smooth Steel | 22-gauge | Clean painted front entries, traditional and transitional homes | Limited Lifetime |
| WestGuard Smooth Steel | 20-gauge | The heaviest gauge in the lineup, single-family and commercial openings | Limited Lifetime |
| Norwood Textured Steel | 22-gauge | Oak grain texture with steel strength, stain or paint | Limited Lifetime |
| ValueLine Smooth Steel | 24-gauge | Side doors, garage service doors and value-focused replacements | 10-Year Limited |
All four carry the full steel-edge perimeter, the polyurethane foam core, an auto-adjusting sill, and a fire rating up to 90 minutes. Cambridge, WestGuard and Norwood add the adjustable hinge plate system.
Fiberglass is the pick when you want a wood look, a smooth modern face, or a door on an exposed entry that takes weather head-on.
Timbergrain Fiberglass uses a 1/10 inch high-impact molded fiberglass skin over 4 inch full-length engineered hinge and lock stiles with a rot-resistant edge. Five wood species, 11 woodgrain finishes, 45 paint colors, limited lifetime warranty.
Weston Brushed Smooth Fiberglass uses a high-impact brushed smooth reinforced skin with engineered wood and composite stiles. It suits contemporary and traditional homes alike, carries a 20-minute fire rating on select styles and sizes, and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
Not sure which material fits? We also install ProVia and Albany entry doors, so we can put real options side by side. For a patio opening rather than a front entry, see sliding patio doors.
Start with your home’s architecture. Waudena’s design guide sorts styles into eight looks: modern, contemporary, traditional, Craftsman, rustic, industrial, mid-century modern, and coastal.
Then decide how much glass. A solid panel door gives you the most privacy, a partial-view door brings light into the foyer without exposing it, and a full-view door floods the entry. House-to-garage openings are a separate case, where a steel fire-rated door is the right call.
Your glass choice changes both the look of the entrance and how much of your foyer the street can see. Waudena assigns every door glass a privacy number from 0 for fully transparent to 10 for fully opaque, which takes the guesswork out of it.
Your replacement is not limited to the existing slab. If the framing allows, we can widen the whole entrance.
Your front door does not have to disappear into the house.
Waudena offers 45 factory paint colors plus custom color matching, and 11 woodgrain finishes including Light Oak, Cognac, Provincial, Dark Walnut, Stonehedge Gray, and Obsidian. Because the finish is applied at the factory, it arrives cured rather than brushed on at your house.
You can also paint the exterior one color and stain the interior another, so the outside suits your brick or siding while the inside matches your trim and flooring. If you are replacing siding at the same time, we color-match the two together.
The hardware is what you touch every day, so it is worth getting right.
Design tip from Waudena: match your hinge finish to your handleset so the hinges blend in rather than stand out.
A great door is only as good as the frame around it. Waudena offers four:
Finish the exterior with brickmold, narrowline or modern nosing trim. If your existing opening has soft or damaged wood, we can pair the door with our wood rot repair service so the new frame goes into sound framing.
Sometimes the fastest way to choose is to look at finished homes. Waudena’s photo gallery covers modern and traditional entrances, Craftsman doors, wood-look fiberglass, painted steel, decorative glass, sidelites, transoms, and double-door entries.
Even an excellent door will not perform if it is installed poorly. Here is how we work.

Call or email, and we will schedule a free, no-obligation visit. We look at your existing opening, siding, and trim, then give you a customized recommendation.

You make your selections and can visit our showroom to see finishes in person. We take precise measurements, check the framing and sill for rot, then submit the project to Waudena for factory finishing.

Our team, with over 125 years of combined experience, sets the door level, square and plumb, seals the perimeter, and fits the threshold plus exterior and interior trim. We set the hardware, check that it operates smoothly, and make a final adjustment against the weatherstrip before cleaning up.

Your door carries the Waudena warranty, and our work is backed by a 10-year install guarantee. Kansas City swings hard between seasons, so if a summer install needs a small winter adjustment, that tune-up is covered. Ask about financing.
We install replacement entry doors across the Kansas City metro. See every area we serve, including our dedicated Overland Park door replacement page.
For a quality solid door with no glass, front door replacement in Kansas City starts near $4,500 installed. Decorative glass, one or two sidelites, a transom, or custom colors move that number up, and frame repair at the opening can add to it. We measure first and give you a clear written quote at no charge. See our full front door pricing breakdown.
Both handle our climate well since both use the same insulating foam core. Steel gives you the Grade 40 security rating and the lower price, while fiberglass resists dents and holds up better on entries with heavy sun or driving rain. If you want a stained wood appearance, Timbergrain fiberglass is the closest match.
Many Waudena products have been certified as meeting ENERGY STAR qualifications, and the polyurethane foam core meets ENERGY STAR requirements. Because the rating applies to the complete system, we verify your specific door, glass, and frame combination before the order goes in.
No. The Section 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit expired on December 31, 2025, so doors installed in 2026 or later do not qualify. If your door was installed on or before that date, you may still be able to claim it on your 2025 return, and your tax preparer can confirm.
Manufacturing lead time runs several weeks since each door is built to your measurements. Once your door arrives, a standard single entry replacement is usually a one-day job, and adding sidelites or a transom can extend that.
Cambridge, WestGuard, Norwood, Timbergrain, and Weston all carry a Limited Lifetime warranty from Waudena, while ValueLine carries a 10-Year Limited warranty. Our installation is backed separately by our 10-year install guarantee, which covers the seasonal tune-ups a door needs as the house moves.
Not sure where to begin? That is what we are here for.
Energy Pro has installed exterior doors across the Kansas City metro from our Belton showroom since 2003, and in that time most entries have come down to two picks. Go steel, Cambridge, or WestGuard when security and a crisp painted finish matter most. Go Timbergrain fiberglass when you want stained wood character on an entry that takes hard afternoon sun and driving rain.
