Connecting with Kansas City as More Than Just a Business, but as Your Neighbor

What do you love most about the holidays? What we love is being with our families, smelling fresh baked cookies, helping those in need and witnessing joy spread throughout our communities. We believe that being part of a community means giving back what you can, when you can do it. At Energy Pro, we try to do our part to help others who may be going through tough times and don’t have the means to improve the situation on their own.

This fall we were given the opportunity to help a mother and daughter living in Kansas City. When we got to their house, we noticed that they had two living room windows in need of immediate repair. They were in dismal condition with broken glass, rotting wood and damaged sashes. We replaced both windows with energy efficient models and repaired the surrounding wood rot so that the women would be warm during the winter months.

Windows are how we connect with and give back to our community. For you, it may be volunteering at the food bank, donating to your favorite charity or helping a neighbor in need. No act of kindness is too big or too small. As we prepare to celebrate with families and friends, we challenge ourselves and all of you to not focus on buying the perfect present or cooking the best ham, but instead focus on how you can make a difference for others this holiday season.

There are many great ways to give back to the communities we all call home. If you have a favorite charity that you support or volunteer at, please leave a comment below to share with others. If you are looking for a charity to support, below are a list of charities that we have the pleasure of working with throughout the year:

Happy Holidays from your friends at Energy Pro!

Toys For Tots: This program collects and donates toys to children in families who may not otherwise receive gifts for Christmas. It was founded in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks and is run by the United States Marin Corps Reserve.

Project Warmth: This program collects and distributes new or gently used coats and blankets to people in need during extreme weather. They also help pay AC bills during the sweltering summer months and heating bills as the temperatures drop in the winter.

Homes for Our Troops: This program serves wounded Veterans post 9/11 by building mortgage-free homes that have been fitted to accommodate their injuries. These homes allow our Veterans to rebuild their lives and settle back into a routine with their families. Since their inception in 2004, the charity has donated 266 homes.
